About the workshop

2020 marks 25 years of pioneering theatre company Frantic Assembly, so we’re thrilled to be working with its Artistic Director Scott Graham to bring you this incredible CPD event!

This highly-energetic creative workshop will give you hands-on experience of Frantic Assembly’s unique approach to creating physical material.

  • Explore and experience the method Frantic use to devise their productions

  • Learn new and exciting approaches to devising theatre

  • Discover ways of making choreography suitable for all abilities

  • Build your confidence in approaching physical exercises with your class

  • Pick up new skills and knowledge to inspire your teaching practice and support your students

About the facilitator

Scott Graham is Artistic Director of Frantic Assembly, co-founding the company in 1994. He has received nominations for his work on Beautiful Burnout (Drama Desk Award, New York), Curious Incident (Olivier, Tony and Fred Astaire Awards). With Steven Hoggett he won the TMA Award (now UK Theatre Awards) for Best Direction for Othello.

He has provided movement direction for shows at the Royal National Theatre, National Theatre Wales and Singapore Rep. He has developed and written extensively about The Frantic Method. With Steven Hoggett, he has written The Frantic Assembly Book of Devising Theatre (Routledge) and is Visiting Professor in Theatre Practice at Coventry University.

Scott is passionate about creating opportunities for people who might see theatre as a challenge or alienating, and believes that these new voices and fresh perspectives are vital to the health of the arts sector.

Frantic Assembly is an international renowned Theatre Company now in its 25th year with a body of professional work that has toured globally. Its core values are to be Brave, Collaborative, Accessible, Authentic and Empowering that  is reflected in our engagement with young people in both the UK and internationally.  Their Learn and Train work aims to educate on the Frantic Method, and support students and teachers on the current curriculum, where they are featured on multiple syllabuses as a named practitioner.
